Vision: To build a global community of empowered individuals who can identify mutual problems and collaborate to find solutions
Mission: To promote innovative communication strategies for collaboration, agency and sustainability.
Effective communication strategies are essential to the successful design and implementation of public policies and business plan. Successful organizations continually search for cost-effective ways to engage their stakeholders and influence policy or business outcomes. Yet hardly any graduate policy school offers an academic concentration in the strategic use of communications for policy purposes, or what may be termed “communications and media management”.
Communicators for Change (CC@MIIS) is a student-led initiative that strives to fill this gap. This organization emerged in response to the needs of students who wish to pursue careers in media management for the common good.
CC@MIIS is currently a voluntary peer-training program. It comprises 20 students from different graduate programs who meet organically once a week to share knowledge and collaborate. Our best asset is the diversity of our professional and educational backgrounds. Most of our members have had first-hand experience in communications in one capacity or another.
But more than a peer-training group, we are a community. And like any other community, we are similar yet different. We may have different world views and professional interests, but we agree on the need to empower individuals and communities. We also agree that communication plays an important role in the process of empowerment. Our philosophy is to lead by example; our goal to create a safe intellectual global space for collaboration and learning using the most innovative digital media and communication strategies.
